Sure, it’s a made-up holiday, but I’m completely on board with celebrating a day dedicated to one of our fundamental needs: love!
Celebrating Valentine’s Day with a partner is special in its own way. But I also love the cute side of Valentine’s Day that’s saved for kids.

A Last Minute Need For Valentines
Am I the only parent who seems to think about getting valentines ready the day before the school party? 🤦♀️
I try to plan ahead with most things, but there are some areas (like school valentines, apparently) where I just fall short.
For example, several years ago, I took my young kids to the store in search of valentines for school. We looked at the picked-over selection the store had to offer: superheroes, cartoon characters, movie characters, etc, but my kids didn’t love any of the options.
We picked something out that was ok because we didn’t have enough time to go anywhere else or make anything.
That’s when I decided to make our own valentines to avoid that situation in future years. Now I’m sharing them with you – because this is one “easy button” you don’t want to miss!

Monster Valentines FAQs
Here are the answers to some common questions I see readers ask about printable valentines. If you don’t see your question answered below, please leave it in the comments!
What can we attach to these valentines to give as a small gift?
The valentines themselves are enough. But if you want to attach something small to give with them, I have some ideas of things that kids love.
I know that some printable valentines have phrases that naturally lend themselves to attaching certain things to the valentines.
However, I wanted to leave these monster valentines open-ended so that you could attach whatever you prefer, can afford, or can find! Here are some great ideas for items to attach to these printable monster valentines:
- Stickers – pick some cute Valentine’s stickers or monster stickers and attach 1 or 2 to each valentine.
- Candy – go with something small and individually wrapped such as Smarties, lollipops, heart-shaped chocolates, etc.
- Chapstick – if you want something sugar-free, you can’t go wrong with chapstick! Kids always have chapped lips this time of year – help them out!
- Bouncy ball – kids love the “magic” of bouncy balls. Attach a small festive bouncy ball to these monster valentines before handing them out!
- Bubbles – you can’t go wrong with bubbles! These little mini bubble wands are perfect.
- Bubble fidget toys – or if you want to avoid the mess, go with these bubble fidget toys – they’re addictively fun! My boys (and their friends) LOVE them!
