Do you have a go-to snack for your kids? What do you pack or have on hand for those crazy after school schedules?
Many of our afternoons go a little something like this:
4:00 – Get home from school
4:10-4:15 – get ready to leave for sports
4:20-4:30 – leave house
4:45-7:00 – a mix of activities… one kid will have a practice then a break before the next kid has a practice, and meanwhile, the 3rd one has a practice or a game at the same time.
7 or 7:30ish – dinner
Sound a little crazy? Trust me, it feels a little crazy on days like that!
Before my kids reached the age of playing sports, I always wondered why families would eat dinner in the car or eat fast food.
Why not eat dinner at home at a reasonable hour? I'm a 6 o'clock dinner type-of-gal!
Oh boy, I understand now! I still work hard to arrange things so that we eat together as a family as much as possible.
Our hectic spring sports schedules demand the need for a go-to snack that I feel good about giving my kids. I need something I can grab very quickly so we can eat on the go.
Help for hectic days
Goldfish crackers have always been a snack I felt good about giving my kids! I LOVE that they are baked with REAL cheese!
In addition, they contain no artificial flavors or preservatives! Those are all wins in my book.
I am so grateful that in this day and age where it seems like artificial flavors and dyes are everywhere, Goldfish crackers keep it fun and basic by using plant-sourced colors.
For example, those red crackers are colored using a mix of red beet juice concentrate and paprika extracted from sweet red peppers.
The green color comes from watermelon & Huito juice concentrates mixed with extracted Turmeric.
Goldfish crackers make fantastic on-the-go snacks because they are so portable! They are super easy to bring along in the car, stuff into a sports bag, and even share with friends.
I constantly have bags of Goldfish in my pantry so we can grab them and go when the days are busy. I love the ease and convenience, all while feeling good about what my kids are eating.
Parent Pro Tip:
Always keep snacks in the car or in the pantry ready to go for those super busy days. Kids (and adults) need to have access to snacks so that they avoid those hunger melt downs!
Ideas for incorporating Goldfish into your hectic afternoon snacks:
- Make a trail mix with your favorite Goldfish crackers, nuts, and dried fruit – yum!
- Make individual snack portions with your favorite Goldfish crackers and keep them in the car to hand out while on the go
- Take a bag of Goldfish colors and use them to play sorting games, bingo and more to keep littles entertained while bigger kids are busy with sports or homework.
- Hand out individual snack bags of Goldfish out as a team snack after the big game
The best part about these crackers? My kids LOVE them!
They taste amazing and fit into their hands so easily. I never have to beg and plead with them to eat their Goldfish because they love the cheesy flavor of the crackers.
And…they love to sort the colors and compete to see who has the most red Goldfish, the most green Goldfish and so on. I love that activity because it also works on their sorting and counting skills!
Seriously, these crackers don't stick around because my kids devour them. And I feel good about letting them have them!
Grab some yourself!
If you are needing any snack ideas for those hectic, chaotic afternoons, add a bag (or two) of Goldfish crackers to your “bag of tricks” and see for yourself how quickly they disappear!
