Materials

  • 1 large craft wood slice
  • 1 small craft wood slice
  • Red craft ribbon cut to 8” in length
  • Stapler
  • 1 Gold pipe cleaner
  • Scissors
  • Brown craft foam sheet
  • Elmer’s School Glue
  • 1 Red craft pom pom
  • 2 Adhesive Wiggle Googly Eyes
  • Black permanent marker
  • Hot glue gun and glue stick

Instructions

  • Make the hanger: Fold the ribbon in half, and place the ends on the back of the large wood slice. Open a stapler, and place it flush against the ribbon, and staple to the top of the wood slice. I stapled twice to ensure it was securely attached. You could also use a dab of glue from a hot glue gun, if you wanted to.
  • Make the antlers: Cut a piece of the gold pipe cleaner, approximately 2” long. Cut an additional piece of pipe cleaner approximately 1 ½” long. Place the shorter piece behind the longer piece of pipe cleaner in the shape of a cross. Twist the shorter pipe cleaner once around the longer piece to attach, and then angle upwards to form an antler. Place the antler to the left of the ribbon, and attach it with a stapler to the wood slice (or dab of glue). Repeat this process to make the right antler, and again attach it with a stapler (or dab of glue) to the right of the ribbon.
  • Make the ears: Cut a 1” strip of the foam sheet. Fold the end of the strip up approximately 1 ½”. Cut out a marquis shape to make the ears. You may need to cut again to separate the ears. Place the foam ears to the left and right of the gold pipe cleaner antlers, and attach to the wood slice using a stapler.
  • Add the snout: Flip the large wood slice over, and glue the small wood slice to the bottom center. Let dry.
  • Add the nose: Glue a red pompom to the top center of the small wood slice.
  • Add the eyes: Remove the backing from the adhesive eyes, and place on the large wood slice above the pompom nose.
  • Add the finishing touches: Using a permanent black marker, draw a mouth under the red nose. Your ornament is complete and ready to be hung on the tree (or wrapped up as a gift!)
