Ingredients Needed For This Chicken Alfredo Pasta Bake Recipe

  • Chicken breast – in this recipe I used rotisserie chicken, but you could use leftovers or cook the chicken (and shred it) ahead of making this recipe.
  • Bowtie pasta – or your favorite pasta style. You need this to be cooked & drained.
  • Alfredo sauce – Everyone has a favorite that they will choose time and time again.
  • Italian blend cheese and Parmesan cheeseThis needs to be shredded and divided.
  • Fresh spinach – Prepare the spinach by washing it and then cut into thin strips. Frozen spinach won’t work for this recipe.
  • Mushrooms – chop up some fresh mushrooms. You could use canned button mushrooms if you’re in a pinch.
  • Seasonings – add that last additional touch with seasonings such as Italian seasoning, garlic, and salt and pepper.

Chicken Alfredo Pasta Bake Recipe Notes And Tips

You can make this ahead of time. Let it cool and store it in the refrigerator until you need to bake it. Just be mindful that the cooking time may take a little longer because you are bringing the pasta back up to temperature.

It’s a good idea to prepare all of your ingredients ahead of making this meal if you’re looking for speed and ease when actually bringing the whole dish together on a busy weeknight.

Variations To Try

The alfredo pasta casserole is one of those versatile main dishes that you can add what you want to it. Here are some ideas to try when you want to change things up.

  • Make it vegetarian – If you would like to make it vegetarian, add cooked vegetables instead of chicken. This would work well with broccoli, zucchini, or even adding peppers or peas into it.
  • Change up the cheese – You could also use different cheese on top if you would like a different flavor.

Chicken Alfredo Pasta Bake FAQs

Here are some questions I see often from readers and their answers.

What is Alfredo sauce?

Traditionally it was a sauce brought together with just three ingredients: butter, cheese, and pasta water.

However, today there have been variations and we now know alfredo sauce as a thick creamy white sauce that usually has cream and garlic as flavorings.

You can create your own but it can be an easy alternative to use one that you like, straight from the store.
