How to Make Grinch Punch
Have you made a punch recipe before? If so, the basic process will seem pretty familiar. What makes this recipe fun and unique is the layering technique I used. Simply follow these easy instructions.
Step 1
Pour 1 ½ tbsp of Hawaiian Punch onto a small plate, and pour 2 tbsp of red sanding sugar on a separate small plate.
Turn a small drinking glass upside down, and dip the outside rim of the glass first into the Hawaiian Punch, and then into the red sanding sugar, until the entire outside rim is covered in red sugar.
Step 2
Fill the glass approximately ½-⅔ full with Green Berry Rush. Make a layer of whipped cream on top of the Hawaiian Punch, ensuring you completely cover the juice.
Step 3
Using a large ice cream scoop, add a rounded scoop of raspberry sherbert on top of the whipped cream. Top with one small marshmallow, and enjoy immediately.
Easy peasy, right? Enjoy your Grinch Punch mocktail!
Important Tips
- It’s very important to completely cover the juice layer with whipped cream. Otherwise, the sherbert will mix with the juice, and cause the juice to turn a different color than bright green.
- Dipping the ice cream scoop in warm water before using makes it much easier to scoop a perfectly round scoop.
- Make sure the Hawaiian Punch is chilled before use, it will cause the other layers to melt more quickly, and mix together.
- Speaking of chilled, it helps to have the glasses chilled too (they don’t need to be frosted).
- Don’t add the red sanding sugar until you are almost ready to drink the Grinch Punch as getting it wet will cause it to dissolve and melt.
- Want to spike the punch for an adult drink? Any white liquor will work. Try it with vodka, rum, or gin.
Variations To Try
If you want a little more tang in your punch, you can add some pineapple or orange juice.
Can’t find the right Hawaiian Punch? Try using lemon-lime Kool-Aid or lemon-lime soda instead!
FAQs
If you haven’t made Grinch Punch before, you may have a question or two. Check out the answers to commonly asked questions below. If you don’t see yours, please leave it in the comments section!
Can I make Grinch Punch ahead of time?
Unfortunately, no. In order to have the layering effect, you need to make this drink right before you want to enjoy it.
So, if you’re doing family movie night or hosting a holiday gathering, make a production out of it and pull your guests or family members into the process!
Can I use homemade whipped cream instead of Reddi-Whip?
I haven’t tried it myself, but yes, I think you can – and it would be delicious!
Just remember to make your homemade whipped cream right before you want to use it on the drinks.
Or save time and use premade whipped cream!
The raspberry sherbet and green Hawaiian punch combine to make a super festive (and delicious!) holiday drink for your next Christmas event. I hope you love this Grinch Punch!
