College Move In Checklist: All The Essentials For Your Dorm Room
Moving to college for the first time is a big step in a child’s life. Know exactly what you need to take and leave at home with our comprehensive college move in checklist!
Going off to college is completely different from taking a trip because instead of visiting a new location, you’ll (or your students) will be living there.
So, the packing will need to be different too!
Of course, you don’t want to take more than what’s needed – especially because there probably won’t be anywhere to store it anyway.
No matter whether you plan on moving into campus housing (a dorm room) or an off-campus apartment (or house) this semester, there’s a LONG list of items you need to pack and bring with you.
To make it easier, I’ve created a narrowed-down college move-in list that includes what’s needed at school – and what’s best left at home. That way, you only take the resources you need, and you don’t forget anything!
It really is hard to think of everything. But with this ultimate college move in checklist, you don’t need to worry about it.

Complete College Move-In Checklist Items
NOTE: Before you buy or pack anything, take the time to check with your school about what items are not allowed. Many schools are very cautious about health and safety regulations, and rules differ from school to school.
Use this college packing list to get you prepared for dorm life. You might need to adjust the things you include a little based on what your roommate brings or what your school provides (again, check with your school!).
