Streusel Apple Cream Cheese Pie
Our Apple Cream Cheese Pie has a layer of cream cheese sandwiched in between a layer of spiced apples and a layer of crumbles topping. It’s so easy yet decadent and delicious, and your family will come to expect it on the table at every holiday or family gathering!
For those who know me well, I’m known as a choco-holic because I have never met a chocolate I didn’t like 😉
However, I also love fruity desserts! I’m a sucker for anything made with strawberries. But I’m also partial to peach and apple desserts too.
Well, when it comes to fall, there’s nothing better (IMO) than a fresh apple pie. It’s full of those warming seasonings and tastes utterly scrumptious.
And my favorite kind of apple pie is the streusel kind with that top crumble layer of brown sugar and butter. Yum!
Then many years ago, a friend of mine gave me the recipe for an apple pie that has a cream cheese layer. OMG. Say hello to my new (and reigning) favorite apple pie: Apple Cream Cheese Pie!
Oh, and by the way, this pie is SO good that it’s been my dad’s only holiday gift request for the past 5+ years! Seriously, it’s holiday gift-worthy!
There is no time like the present to start new traditions with the dishes on your holiday table. 😉

How To Make Apple Cream Cheese Pie

Step 1
Begin by lining a baking sheet with parchment paper and pre-heating the oven to 400 degrees.
Step 2
Add your crust to the pie plate.
Step 3
Mix the filling ingredients thoroughly: sugar, cinnamon, flour, nutmeg, salt, and apples. Pour into the ready-made or homemade crust.
Set aside while mixing up the cream cheese layer.
Step 4
Using a hand mixture, blend the cream cheese, vanilla, sugar, and milk until the mixture is smooth.
Then spread this cream cheese mixture over the apple layer.
Step 5
Now, mix the butter, flour, and sugar together for the topping until a crumbly texture is achieved.
Sprinkle on top of the pie.
Step 6
Put the pie on the parchment-lined baking.
Bake for 45 minutes, turning 180 degrees halfway through baking. Your pie should be golden brown when it’s complete.
Step 7
Allow the pie to cool slightly, slice, and serve.
Apple Cream Cheese Pie Recipe Notes And Tips
- If the pie cooks out over the edge of the pie pan while baking, the lined baking sheet will save you a lot of time cleaning the drips in the bottom of the oven. Just pull up the parchment paper and throw it away…..that simple. 🙂
- Use a clean, sharp knife to cut into slices for serving. This will allow a cleaner cut through the cream cheese. You can also wipe your knife clean with a paper towel or wet cloth between each cut.
Variations Of Apple Cream Cheese Pie To Try
- Sprinkle the top of the baked pie with your favorite chopped nuts, such as pecans, almonds, or walnuts.
- Drizzle with some warm caramel just before serving.
- Homemade whipped topping would be a delicious topping to add before serving.
- Add some colored sprinkles or sanding sugar on the top, depending on your preference or type of event/gathering you are serving the pie for.
FAQs
Here are a couple of questions I see readers ask about making this apple cream cheese pie. If you have a question but don’t see it answered below, please leave it in the comments for me to answer!
The best apples to use need to be firm enough to hold together during the cooking process. These apples are called baking apples, and the most common type are Honey Gold, Fuji, Jonathan, or Granny Smith (my favorite).
Honey Crisp apples are another type of apple that can work well and taste delicious.
Red Delicious and Gala are two of the more popular types of apples, but they will not hold up under high cooking temperatures.
This pie will keep in the refrigerator for 3 – 4 days if kept in an air-tight container or storage bag.
I often keep it in the pie plate if we have leftovers (which isn’t often) and wrap it up with aluminum foil.
Note: After a couple of days, the juices from the apples may make the bottom of the crust soggy.
Yes, you can freeze it! I like to wrap the pie in plastic wrap first and then give it an extra layer of protection by wrapping it in aluminum foil. You can keep this pie frozen for up to 3 months.
Once you remove the pie from the freezer, allow it to thaw in the refrigerator overnight or at room temperature for 1 – 2 hours.
Bake in the oven at 350 degrees for about 20 minutes to heat the pie up before serving.
Yes, you can make it ahead of time. I would recommend no more than 1 day prior to the event or gathering.
