DIY Mason Jar Snow Globe: Beautiful Craft in Minutes
Create your own fun and festive mason jar snow globe! This project is easy to follow, finishes in just minutes, and has minimal mess thanks to the lack of liquid – a perfect project for kids!
I’ve always loved snow globes – aren’t they wonderfully mysterious? As kids, I think most of us find them awe-inspiring.
And I don’t know about you, but there’s something about the holiday season that just screams “snow globe” to me!
This year, we tried our hand at making a mason jar snow globe for the holiday and LOVED the end result so much that I’m sharing it with you. It’s a super fun and easy craft that the kids can help make – or create on their own!
For our homemade snow globe, I used a clean Nutella jar because that’s what I had easily accessible. However, you could use a mason jar (which would look REALLY cool), a clean peanut butter jar, or anything similar.
And the best part about this snow globe craft is that it comes together quickly and easily. It took us about 15 minutes, that’s as we were figuring out the best order of tasks!
TIP: This craft is so cute that you can make it for the kids – or as a unique DIY gift for a friend or loved one! Imagine grandma’s face when she opens up her own snow globe handmade by her grandchild 😁
Check it out, and I hope you love making this homemade mason jar snow globe craft as much as we did!

Trace the templates onto the green cardstock, then cut out the trees.
Step 2
Place the Nutella container lid on the red and white polka-dotted cardstock, and trace around the lid.
Cut out the circle, and hot glue it to the top of the lid.
Step 3
Place the Christmas Trees templates back on the green trees.
Cut on the lines in the middle of the trees, and then fold along the line on the trunk of the trees.
Step 4
Slide the trees together, with the tree with the line cut from the bottom fitting on top of the tree with the line cut from the top.
Straighten the trees until they are perpendicular to each other.
Step 5
Hot glue the tree to the inside of the jar lid, then hot glue the medium-sized white pom poms around the base of the tree inside your mason jar snow globe.
Step 6
Hot glue the small red, green, and white pom poms along with the red and gold sequins to the tree, until all sides of the tree are decorated.
Step 7
Pour the snowflake confetti and white foam beads into the empty Nutella jar. Screw the lid with the tree attached to the jar.
Step 8
Hot glue the red and green yarn pom pom to the bottom of the jar.
Shake and enjoy your DIY Mason Jar Snow Globe!
Tips for This Project
- If your foam beads do not stick to the inside of the mason jar, rub around the inside of it moving in the same direction all the way around to create static electricity.
- If you want to let young children make this craft, you’ll want to exercise caution regarding the hot glue gun, as it can burn little hands. Either assist young kiddos by doing the gluing for them or let them use Elmer’s craft glue – be aware that this option involved longer dry times.
