If you’ve been living under a rock (and until about a year ago, I was!), Crumbl is a booming cookie business that was started by two cousins named Jason McGowan and Sawyer Hemsley in Utah in 2017.

Crumbl is famous for their HUGE and insanely delicious cookies – but they do come with a hefty price tag (for a cookie). If there isn’t a Crumbl store near you or cookie enjoyment is stretching your budget too thin, these copycat cookies will deliver the same enjoyment at a much more affordable price.

Crumbl’s menu is on a constant rotation, but their Pink Frosted Sugar Cookie is so popular that it never get rotated off the menu.

And for anyone who loves sugar cookies but doesn’t like the process of chilling and rolling out dough (me!), this recipe is for you! They’re probably the easiest sugar cookies you will ever make. No chilling and no rolling out means you’re enjoying your cookies in practically no time.

How To Make Crumbl Pink Sugar Cookies

Say goodbye to chilling and rolling out dough! Here’s how to make pillowy, crumbly sugar cookies just like Crumbl does!

Step 1 – Preheat Oven

Preheat your oven to 350°F.

Step 2 – Mix Dry Ingredients

In a medium bowl, mix the flour, baking soda, baking powder, and cream of tartar. Set aside.

Step 3 – Mix Wet Ingredients

Using a stand mixer or hand mixer, beat together the butter, sugar, and 3 tablespoons powdered sugar until fluffy. Mix in the oil.

Creamed butter and sugar

Add the egg and vanilla, beating until combined.

Step 4 – Add Dry Ingredients To Wet Ingredients

Gradually add the dry mixture until just blended.

Step 5 – Form Cookies On Baking Sheet

Portion the dough into 2 1/2” balls (or 130g). Place them on a parchment-lined cookie sheet and flatten to form a 4-5” cookie.

Arrange the cookies on a pan about 2” apart (they spread as they bake!).

Step 6 – Bake And Cool

Bake for 9-12 minutes at 350°F. Pull your cookies out before they turn brown on the bottom.

Allow to cool completely.

Step 7 – Make Frosting

For the frosting, beat together the butter and powdered sugar until smooth. Add the milk and vanilla (and almond extract, if using). Blend until reaching your desired consistency. Add more milk or sugar as needed.

Mix in a few drops of pink food coloring until you achieve the desired shade.

Enjoy!

Use a cookie scoop – I find it helpful to use a large cookie scoop to make the balls uniform and the right size.

Flatten Your Cookie Dough – Once all your dough is rolled into balls, gently press the balls down with a glass or measuring cup. This will give the cookies their signature look.

The cookies will spread as they bake – Make sure to leave room in between the cookies on the pan. I can usually fit 6 cookies per large baking pan.

Use a silicone mat – this isn’t necessary, but it sure makes cleanup easier!

Don’t over bake! This will make your cookies to dry out, but we’re aiming for a soft and chewy texture. The cookies shouldn’t brown at all. You will know they are ready when they are puffed up and no longer look wet in the middle.

Cool before icing – Your cookies should be mostly cooled (but still just a tad warm) when you ice them. This will let the icing get soft to give your cookies a nice smooth look.

Serve chilled – Crumbl serves their sugar cookies chilled. If you want as close to the “real” thing as possible, chill them in the fridge until you are ready to serve.

Variations To Try

Almond Extract – One of things that make a Crumbl sugar cookie stand out among the sea of sweet treats is the hint of almond flavor it has. I made these cookies with vanilla, and they’re delicious. But if you love that almond flavor, add a little when you add the vanilla.

Add Sprinkles! – No, these Crumbl cookies don’t come with sprinkles from the store. But hey, you’re making them! If you love sprinkles, live your best life and add them!

Can I freeze these cookies?

Yes! They freeze very well in an airtight container or resealable plastic bag for up to 1 month. To defrost your cookies, set them out in a room temperature.

How can I soften butter quickly?

There are two ways I recommend:
1. Cutting – Cut your butter into small cubes so it softens quicker.

2. Microwave – Microwave a cup of water for 2 minutes until it’s really hot. Place your stick of butter on a plate. Remove the cup hot water from the microwave put, the plate of butter in there, and close the microwave door. Let the butter sit there for 10 minutes to soften.

I’ve been busy making other Crumbl copycats too and will be posting them soon. Keep an eye out for them!

I have lots of delicious cookies here that I’m sure you’ll love! Check out my:
