I love coming up with fun, creative projects during the fall and holiday season! This year, I have a new free template to help you (and your young learners) get into the holiday spirit with this cute idea.

October is particularly hard on pumpkins thanks to all the carving and delicious pumpkin foods. But November is no picnic for turkeys – Thanksgiving feasts alone probably wipe out nearly half their population!

So, this year, I’m on a mission to help the humble turkey – by disguising it!

I created this set of fun turkey disguises as a cute way to add coloring activities and cut and paste activities to the holiday season. And with 10 fun disguises to choose from, this creative fall activity is a great way to provide fun, creativity, and laughs, too!

It’s the perfect fall turkey activity – and I promise that no harm will come to any turkeys!

How To Use This Turkey In Disguise Activity

One thing I love about this turkey craft activity is that kids of all ages will enjoy it!

It makes a great activity for younger kids and older kids, too! But no matter what the age, all kids will love turning their own personal Mr. Turkey into something different!

Here are a few ideas of ways to use this turkey disguise craft:

Cutting and pasting to improve scissor and cutting skills
Coloring activity to develop fine motor skills
Experience with different coloring media – pull out the water colors, crayons, markers, daubers, and more for coloring these fun disguises!
Encouraging creativity – letting kids see something very recognizable as something different (a turkey in disguise!) encourages them to think differently about what they see. Take it a step further by mixing and matching disguises to create a unique, creative disguise!

Ideas To Extend The Activity

This activity can take some time with young children as they work on their fine motor skills. Older kids may work through the basic activity quickly, so extend it by adding a short writing activity to work on writing skills.

This idea can work equally well for 1st-grade-aged kids as for middle school-aged kids!

I suggest asking them to pick their favorite turkey disguise and write a story, a poem, or some other creative writing assignment about it.

Or ask the kids to pick their favorite design and write about something they are grateful for – can they tie it back to why they picked the design they picked? Fun challenge idea!

This disguised turkey project is great for use at home as a family project while waiting for Thanksgiving dinner or in the classroom! Take the new uniquely disguised turkeys and use them as fun decorations.
