I don’t know about you but I am super excited about the arrival of Spring. Longer days, sunshine, flowers and Easter are just a few of the things that make me happy and excited about Spring.
I am a pushover for a decorated cake or cupcakes, but give me an adorable cookie that reflects the season or occasion we are celebrating, and I am one happy gal. 😂
Honestly, I have to be in the right mood to bake or have the time to mix up several batches of cookies. It is usually the lack of time (which is almost always) that hinders my progress.
So I just get sort of giddy when I find a recipe for a decorated cookie recipe that doesn’t require oodles of ingredients, baking, cooling time…plus then the time it takes to decorate.
This is one of those projects where I can buy almost everything I need pre-made and I may only need to use my microwave or stovetop for 4 – 5 minutes tops.
Decorating is the fun part and being able to do it with my kids is icing on the…..cookie. 😉

Nutter Butter Easter Chick Cookies Recipe Notes And Tips
- Set the Nutter Butter cookie on a fork while dipping it into the melted chocolate. Then you can just set the cookie down on the waxed paper and pull the fork out from underneath the cookie.
- Draw an outline of the cracked shell on the top and bottom of the Nutter Butter with cookie icing before filling it in. This will help the process go a little faster and cut down on little frustrating oopsies!
- Parchment paper will work great if you prefer that over waxed paper. Non-stick silicone baking mats are perfect for this as well because once the dipped cookies are set they will pop right off the mat.
Variations Of Nutter Butter Easter Chick Cookies To Try
- Use two mini chocolate chips, M&M’s or the candy eyes in place of using black cookie frosting.
- Make some of them without the shell and add two little chicken stick feet toward the bottom of the cookie to make it look likes legs. 😉
- Use a fruit roll-up or other soft, pliable candy to cut into a nose in place of the cookie frosting.
FAQs
Here are some common questions about our Nutter Butter Easter Chick Cookies recipe. If you don’t see your question below, please leave it in the comments so I can answer it!
How long will my Easter Chick Cookies stay fresh?
As long as you place the cookies in an airtight container, they will stay fresh at room temperature for up to 5 – 7 days. That is if they last that long. 😉
Can I freeze these Easter Chick Cookies?
I would recommend against freezing your decorated chick cookies and here’s why. It is likely that moisture will cause the chocolate to turn white and hazy when thawed and the cookie will not retain its crispness. This will likely affect the overall flavor and texture of the cookie.
Why does this recipe recommend cookie icing instead of regular icing?
Cookie icing is thinner than regular frosting which makes decorating a little easier. It will also give your cookies a shiny and glossier finish.
Regular icing is much thicker and is used for covering or coating baked goods.
