Supplies Needed For Paper Plate Wreath Craft
- Paper Plate – I prefer the uncoated 9-inch plate with the flat edge
- Green Paint – any shade of green you prefer
- Paintbrush – craft paintbrush or a foam brush
- Marker – you might like to outline the red and green ribbon
- Scissors – kids’ size to adult, depending on the age of your crafters
- Glue – Elmer’s, glue dots, or hot glue gun
- Construction Paper or Cardstock – red and green
- Yarn – two different colors of green, I would use a dark green and a light green
- Wreath bow template

How to Make A Paper Plate Wreath Craft
- Make the wreath shape – Begin by cutting a hole out of the middle of the paper plate.
- Paint the paper plate – Paint the plate green and allow it to dry completely.
- Wrap the wreath in yarn – Next, cut a long strand of each of the two green-colored yarns. Wrap each strand around the paper plate through the center hole. When you reach the end, either tie the ends together on the backside or glue the ends down on the back of the plate.
- Make the hanger loop – Cut one or two shorter pieces to make a loop so that you can hang up your wreath. Glue the ends of the loop on the back or use tape to secure them in place.
- Make the ribbon – Using the ribbon templates, trace the ribbons onto the green and red paper. Cut out the red and green ribbons. Layer the red and green ribbon and glue the two pieces together. Place them on the bottom of the paper plate wreath (as shown) and glue them to bottom of the plate.

Paper Plate Wreath Craft Notes And Expert Tips
- Cutting, gluing, and decorating the wreath helps to enhance hand-eye coordination and fine-motor control in younger children.
- Use a green party plate if you prefer not to get out the paints and paintbrush. This will also save time with the drying process.
- When choosing a paper plate for this craft, uncoated paper plates often work best for painting and gluing.
- The easiest way to cut the center out of the paper plate is by making a small snip or poke a small hole in the center, cutting outwards.
