Pumpkin Lego Painting Expert Notes And Tips
- I prefer to use the smaller paper plates and put each color paint on a separate plate so the colors do not mix.
- Butcher paper or craft paper is a go-to in our house because the paper is heavier than copy paper.
- Washable paint is always the easiest option for clean up once your kids have created their masterpiece. 😉
- Lightly draw an outline of the pumpkin so it is easier for kids to keep the shape. You can use a pencil if you don’t want the outline to be seen or a colored marker if you want the outline to be seen.
- A paint shirt is highly advisable when working with kids and paint.
Variations To Try
- For older kids, the smaller legos will work well. For younger kids using the larger legos such as Duplo block will be easier for them to hold.
- This is a great craft for almost any holiday – just change up the colors and the shape! Wouldn’t a green, red and gold Christmas tree be amazing? Or a Valentine’s Day heart with red, pink and white paint? Or how about Easter Eggs using pastel colors such as blue, yellow and green?
- After the painting has dried completely, hang it up around the house for your little ones to enjoy during the season!
Lego Painted Pumpkin FAQs
Here are some answers to common questions I see readers ask about this Pumpkin Lego Painting project. If you have a question and don’t see it down below, please leave it in the comments so I can answer it for you!
No! I would not recommend this for a couple of reasons. First, the heat from the dishwasher could warp the plastic pieces and make them unusable.
Second, a loose Lego brick could get jammed in the dishwasher and damage the machine or get lost.
Instead, I recommend filling your sink with some hot soapy water and letting your Lego pieces soak there to remove the paint (this is also where washable paint comes in handy).
I recommend letting them soak in the kitchen sink filled with hot soapy water. Clean them by hand with a soft cloth or sponge and mild detergent then allow to air dry on a towel.
Absolutely! I feel like when it comes painting and kids the thicker the paper the better.
Tempera paint is always my first choice because it’s easy to clean, dries fast and won’t crack or flake.
There are other companies that offer safe for kids, washable paint for children’s projects. There is also washable acrylic and watercolor paints.
