This spider web popsicle stick craft is very economical to make as a class craft too. The school will likely have appropriate paint, paintbrushes, and maybe yarn. But you could pick those up inexpensively. Just pick up the spiders at the craft store or pre-make them to save time.

Remember that younger kids will definitely need some extra assistance working through a few steps of this craft.

Spider Web Popsicle Stick Craft Recipe Notes And Tips

  • An adult should be present while using the hot glue and glue gun to avoid any burns or accidents.
  • Don’t forget to lay down some old newspaper or butcher paper before you start painting. Make clean-up as easy as possible for yourself. 😉
  • Have a couple cups of water available while painting for the crafters to rinse out their paintbrushes during the painting process. A roll of paper towels would be a good idea too. 🙂

Spider Web Popsicle Stick Craft Variations To Try

  • Use different colors of yarn to wrap around the web base. Make your spiders webs as colorful as you wish.
  • Paint the popsicle sticks different colors…..orange, yellow, pink or any color that just plain makes you happy.
  • Make your own colorful spiders using pipe cleaners and pom poms.
  • If you decide to make your own spiders, add some funny googly eyes in different sizes and colors.

FAQs

What kind of paint is best for the Spider Web Popsicle Stick Craft project?

My suggestion for the best kind of paint would be any water-based paint that is water-soluble. There are a lot of different brands of paint that are ‘kid-friendly’ to choose from.

I would be careful not to get any oil-based paint. Children 12 and under should not use oil-based paints because of some of the toxins in them.

What is the best kind of glue to use for my Spider Web Popsicle Stick Craft instead of hot glue?

Hot glue will adhere and dry the quickest but comes with the possibility of getting burned and should not be used by small children.

There are craft glues that will work well you just have to remember that it may take a little longer for the glue to dry enough to get a good hold.

Super glue could work and will dry clear. If you use superglue, please have adult assistance available…..we all know why, right?!?! LOL
