Himalayan salts vs Epsom salt vs table salt

Epsom salt baths may be a better way to increase magnesium content in the body because it has a higher magnesium content than Himalayan salts do. Either salt you choose will foster relaxing baths that soak away the stresses of the day!

On the other hand, table salt is sodium chloride, and it does NOT make a good addition to your bath soak.

FAQs

What is a milk bath?

A milk bath is just that….a milk bath but with a few added benefits. Milk contains lactic acid, which will help exfoliate your skin, leaving it smoother and lessening the symptoms of dry, rough skin. A milk bath will help to ease skin conditions that cause irritation.

Is this floral bath soak safe for children?

Yes, they can be safe for your children to enjoy as well. However, you know your children better than anyone, so you will know if any of the ingredients contain allergens that will not work for your children.

How long will the floral bath soak stay fresh?

This soak is generally best used within 6 – 9 months for optimal freshness. I usually label the jar or bottle with the date so I can keep track of how long it has been stored. This recipe is best stored in an airtight jar, bottle, or container at room temperature, away from direct sunlight.

Can I use regular powdered milk in place of the powdered goat’s milk?

Yes, you can certainly can. I would suggest that you look for the whole powdered milk. If you are allergic to dairy or vegan, you can try organic coconut milk powder instead.

How does this bath soak differ from a colloidal oatmeal soak?

Oatmeal bath soaks are an effective way to soothe and moisturize the skin, includding inflammation, eczema, psoriasis, and even acne.

This milk and honey floral bath soak doesn’t use finely ground oatmeal to achieve the same effects that you get from the salts and essential oils.

Can I use dendritic salt instead of Epsom salt?

Yes! Dendritic Salt is a salt that has a high surface area and reduces clumping while improving fragrance retention. It’s usually indistinguishable from table salt because it also appears as small white crystals.

Can you replace Epsom salt with Dead Sea salt?

Yes! Although they both san soothe away aches and pains and pamper your skin, Dead Sea salt contains a richer mixture of nutrients, including magnesium, sulfur, calcium, bromide, zinc, iodine, and potassium.

Also, its high moisture content make it perfect for combining with natural essential oils. Dead Sea salts are the best bath salts, but they’re also more expensive (and not significantly better) than Epsom salt.

Are bath soaks good for sensitive skin?

If you’re prone to issues like yeast infections or have sensitive skin, the best thing you can do is make your own bath soaks (rather than buying them) with all-natural ingredients. Just mix Epsom salt, a bit of baking soda, and soothing essential oils (like lavender oils) in warm water.

NOTE: salt can be drying, so if you have sensitive skin don’t use a bath soak more than once or twice a week and don’t soak as long (only 10-15 minutes).
