Valentine’s Day Frame Notes And Tips
- If you are planning to make this craft with toddlers or preschool age children, you may want to glue the frame together and let them do the rest.
- It is a good idea to lay down some cardboard or old newspaper to place under your project especially if you are using sequins, glitter or puffy paint.
Variations Of A Valentine’s Day Frame To Try
- Add a couple magnets or a magnet strip to the back of the frame so the recipient of this special gift can put it on their refrigerator to enjoy.
- Get a little more elaborate in the decorating by adding puffy paint, glitter, sequins, small pom pom balls or different sizes and colors of foam hearts. Glitter pens and colored markers are also great crafting tools.
- Add a photo to the frame to the back of your frame. Cut the photo to fit and tape it to the back to hold it in place.
- This is such a fun DIY Valentine’s Day craft, but you could also change up the decorations and color of popsicle sticks for other holidays such as Easter or St. Patrick’s Day. Or create a special frame for someone’s special birthday using their favorite colors. The possibilities are ENDLESS! 😉
FAQs

What is Washi Tape?
I love crafting with my kids but sometimes I run across a product that I have not used before and am not entirely familiar with. Does this happen to you too?
Washi tape is one of those items for me, so I thought I would just give you a quick explanation of washi tape. It’s been a hot item for a few years now, but I’m sometimes a little slow to catch on to great new things like this! 😂
Washi tape is a decorative adhesive tape made from traditional Japanese paper that is perfect for craft or journaling. It is a masking-like tape that is ultra-durable, very flexible, and comes in a variety of widths, textures, patterns, and colors.
It’s awesome for crafting – and makes decorating crafts fast and EASY PEASY!

What is the best kind of glue to use for this DIY Valentine’s Day Frame?
There are several great options depending on what you are most comfortable using. Elmer’s Glue, craft glue, or a hot glue gun would be the ones I would recommend.
Elmer’s Glue will require a little extra time to hold together and allow to dry.
A hot glue gun may require adult supervision depending on the age of the children that are working on this project.
Craft glue is quick-drying so it’s a great alternative to Elmer’s or a hot glue gun.
In short, you can use any of these options, so pick the one that works the best for you.
Can I paint the craft sticks instead of buying them already colored? If so, what is the best kind of paint to use?
Of course, you can definitely paint the sticks yourself and to suit your own style!
Acrylic paints will cover the sticks with a nice, solid, even color.
