I love just about everything Dr. Seuss wrote – including How The Grinch Stole Christmas. And I grew up watching the cartoon movie every year.

Now, we watch the Jim Carrey movie version every single year. And even though I like the movie, I really LOVE Grinch treats! Don’t they add a fun twist to holiday goodies?

We were recently enjoying some “normal” rice krispie treats and were planning to watch the movie for the first time this year. Somehow those two things combined, and we decided to make Grinch Rice Krispies Treats.

They’re basically a “Grinch version” of these Dr. Seuss Inspired 1 Fish 2 Fish Rice Krispy Treats!

Most people make Grinch treats that are dyed green, but that takes SO much time. I wanted to do something a little different, so I decided to use candy melts and partially frost our treats.

And the lazy busy mom version of Grinch Rice Krispie Treats was born! These treats are SO easy to make, super yummy, and probably one of the cutest treats ever!

How To Make Grinch Rice Krispie Treats

Place a metal or glass bowl over a pot of boiling water. Place white chocolate morsels into the bowl. Stir often until melted. Stir in one drop of green dye.

Place a lollipop stick into the rice krispie treats and dip into the chocolate. Place on parchment paper to dry.

While drying draw on a red heart with the red sparkle gel. Let dry fully before serving.

Variations To Try

  • Make the Rice Krispies from scratch. If you prefer the homemade version, skip the store-bought stuff and make your own!
  • Sprinkles! If you’d rather use sprinkles rather than trying to draw hearts with the red gel, grab these heart sprinkles.
  • Dye the treats – if you prefer the look of the dyed version, you can totally make the treats from scratch and dye them.

Grinch Rice Krispies FAQs

It’s understandable to have a few questions when trying a new recipe. Here are the answers to some of the most popular questions about these Grinch Rice Krispie Treats.

How Long Do Rice Krispie Treats Last?

When sealed in an airtight container, these treats will only last a couple of days before getting hard.

Can You Freeze These Grinch Rice Krispie Treats?

If you have more leftovers than you can eat in a day or two, you can freeze these treats. I would recommend removing the hearts (or not adding them), first.

To freeze them, separate them in layers with wax paper and place them in a freezer bag. Freeze up to 6 weeks.

To Thaw: Let them sit at room temperature for 15 minutes before serving.
