- Construction Paper – black, pink, orange, and white, plus any other colors you like for the background
- Scissors – kids’ size to adult, depending on the age of your crafters
- Glue – Elmer’s or glue dots
- Marker – you might prefer colored markers for drawing scenery around your penguin
- Penguin handprint craft template – optional, but could make cutting out the pieces much easier for younger kids!

How to Make The Handprint Penguin Craft
- Cut out the template pieces – Download the templates and trace them on the designated colors of construction paper. Cut them out.
- Trace your child’s hand (or let them trace their own hand – or use the hand part of the template) on a piece of black construction paper or cardstock. Cut it out.
- Glue the white face on the black handprint.
- Complete the face and feet – Place the remaining pieces (nose, eyes, cheeks, feet) on the black handprint and glue them in place.

Handprint Penguin Craft Notes And Expert Tips
- The printable templates that come with this craft include a handprint, but tracing your child’s hand for the projects creates a keepsake. 🙂
- Glue the penguin handprint onto a large piece of construction paper. You can then create a holiday or winter scene around your owl.
- Use sturdy paper like cardstock or construction paper when making templates. They’ll hold up beautifully, so your little crafters can enjoy making handprint projects again and again with the same template.
- If you’re using light-colored paper, grab a pencil to trace your template. That way, you can erase the lines afterward and keep your craft looking neat!

How To Display The Handprint Penguin Craft
Use the Penguin Handprint pictures as a placemat at your holiday meal or New Year’s Eve party.
Create a greeting card with the penguin handprint on the front. Write a message to friends, relatives, or neighbors and send it as a holiday card.
Grandparents absolutely LOVE receiving handmade treasures from their little ones! Add a magnet to the back, and they’ll proudly show it off on their fridge—probably all year long.
Variations Of The Handprint Penguin Craft To Try
- Replace the construction paper eyes with some googly eyes for a little added personality. 😉
- Dress up your penguin friend with a Santa Hat or a cute stocking hat.
- GLITTER…gives a pop of pizazz to every piece of artwork. 😉
- Glue cotton balls around the penguin to look like snow. Tug at it to make it more billowy.
- Use mini-pom poms as part of the scenery. A hot glue gun might work best for this, so be prepared to assist your crafters.
