Snowy Owl Handprint Craft Notes And Expert Tips
- I recommend creating the templates with thicker paper, such as cardstock or construction paper. The templates will hold up longer, so your crafters can make multiple handprint crafts with the same template.
- The printable templates that come with this craft include a handprint, but tracing your child’s hand for the projects creates a keepsake. 🙂
- Glue the snowy owl onto a large piece of construction paper. You can then create a holiday or winter scene around your owl.
- Prefer to skip the painting mess? Use gray construction paper to make the eyebrows.

How To Display The Snowy Owl Handprint Craft
If this is a classroom project, display it on the bulletin board in the classroom or out in the hallway. Kids love to see their artwork on display.
One of my favorite things is the Kids Art Display Frames, where I can display their beloved artwork in a beautiful frame, and when I am ready to add another piece, I just place it right on top of the last piece. Display and storage all in one convenient place….genius!!!
Laminate your Snowy Owl Handprint art and use it as a placemat at your holiday meal.
Give the Handprint Snowy Owl Craft as a gift to an elderly neighbor, special friend, or grandparents.

Variations Of Snowy Owl Handprint Craft To Try
- Replace the top layer of the eyes with a pair of googly eyes for a playful look.
- Sprinkly on some silver glitter….glitter makes everything more fun!
- Glue some cotton balls on for a fluffy snowy owl.
- Add some small white craft feathers to give your owl a little more personality. 😉
- If painting is your cup of tea, use white paint to press your child’s hand in and firmly place it in the center of a light colored piece of construction paper, such as gray or light blue.

Snowy Owl Handprint Craft FAQs
Non-toxic, washable paint is recommended for crafting with children. Tempera or fingerpaints are both perfect choices for kids of all ages.
This craft is best suited for children 3 – 5 years of age. It is simple enough to be completed in a 30 – 40 minute time frame. It is also a perfect project for developing fine motor skills and allowing them some creative freedom.
However, with the help of an adult, this is a perfect keepsake project for children who are 6 months to 2 years of age. It is also a great project for sensory exploration and having a little messy fun.
For younger children making this craft, I would recommend a glue stick or glue dots. They are both easy to handle and not messy at all.
For older kids, Elmer’s glue is a great option.
Great question!!! I have discovered that paint sticks are a good alternative. They twist up like glue sticks and dry quickly. You should put down some newspaper or butcher paper to work on so the color does not get your tabletops or counters.
