Boys and girls of all ages love to get their hands into different sensory experiences. Homemade slime is right at the top of the list!
I don’t always love it quite as much as my kids do, though, but I have learned to embrace their love for it.
I know my boys LOVE making slime at home and had a blast with our Orange Glitter Fall Slime recipe.
And knowing how much they love playing with DIY Puffy Paint, I thought it would be fun to experiment with and make some fluffy slime!

We recently made this on a cold and rainy day because it’s the perfect indoor activity for kids. They like this homemade fluffy slime better than my regular slime and glitter slime because it’s stretchier and perfectly squishy. Think of the texture of marshmallows and you’re pretty close!
Thankfully, learning how to make fluffy slime is a super simple process. Three steps are all you need for some hands-on manipulation fun.

How To Make Fluffy Slime
The process for making DIY fluffy slime is super easy! Here’s all you need to do:
Step 1
In a large bowl mix glue, shaving cream, and food coloring together until well combined.
NOTE: the more shaving cream you add the thicker your fluffy slime will be. The less you add the slimier it will be.
Step 2
Stir in solution 1 tablespoon at a time until the mixture pulls away from the bowl and is able to be kneaded.
NOTE: It will be sticky at first, but keep moving it with your hands until it is no longer sticky and is the right consistency.
Step 3
Store in an airtight container at room temperature. It should last for 2-4 weeks if properly stored!
Fluffy Slime Tips and Precautions
- Do not allow children to eat slime – if your kids are young enough to put things in their mouths, stick with edible playdough.
- Always wash hands after using slime.
- If you’re concerned about your furniture while playing with slime, make sure to cover the table with a plastic table covering (such as a cheap disposable plastic table cloth).
- Supervise children when making and playing with slime.

How To Make Fluffy Slime: Fun Alternatives
- Avoid hunting down all the ingredients or make your slime metallic with Elmer’s Celebration Slime Kit
- Try making scented DIY fluffy slime! All you need is some scented Elmer’s slime activator or some essential oils in your favorite scent!
- If you have contact saline solution on hand, you can use that instead of the slime activator. 1-2 tablespoons is all you should need (just make sure it contains boric acid). 🙂
- To make more than one color of this fluffy slime, just make another batch (of a different color) and stretch the multiple colors out side by side then twist it together so the colors swirl together for a cool, colorful effect!
