Homemade Glitter Slime Expert Notes And Tips

  • If you have sticky slime, add a little bit more contact solution.
  • If the mixture is too moist, simply sprinkle a little baking soda on the mixture and knead with your hand until you have reached the desired consistency.
  • If you don’t have all the necessary supplies, you could simply grab a slime kit to make easy glitter slime!
  • Slime is a really interesting science experiment and education experience, but it should be made and played with in moderation.
  • If you notice any skin irritation, discontinue use immediately and wash hands with soap and water. If you or your kids have sensitive skin, wear gloves while making and playing with the slime.

DIY Glitter Slime Variations To Try

  • Change colors for different occasions! For example, green food coloring, glitter, and shamrock confetti for St. Patrick’s Day or red food coloring, green glitter, and gold confetti for Christmas. There are tons of color options and combinations!
  • Make your fall slime even more fun by adding different items to retrieve such as coins, buttons, beads, mini action figures or mini animal figures.
  • Make a beautiful rainbow glitter slime by adding multi-colored glitter or a mixture of several or your favorite colors.
  • Have a girl that doesn’t love orange? Make pink glitter slime with your favorite glitter colors and fun unicorn confetti!

Fall Slime Storage

How To Store

There are a couple ways to store your fall slime to keep it pliable and usable. Place it in a plastic storage bag and be sure to squeeze out the excess air before sealing.

Or place in an air-tight, plastic container that is just a little bit bigger than the amount of slime you are storing. This will also keep out the majority of air.

How long will it stay fresh?

There is really no hard and fast rule on how long batches of slime will keep. I have had it last for several months before, and I’ve also needed to make more the next time my boys wanted to play with it because the plastic baggie did not get sealed correctly.

Can this fall glitter slime be stored in the fridge?

Storing the fall slime in the refrigerator can extend its life. Make sure to store it in a marked, airtight container so that no one mistakes it for food!

FAQs

Is there a different type of glue instead of Elmer’s Glue that I can use to make slime?

I can not really speak to that because I have never tried anything other than Elmer’s Glue. Elmer’s has an ingredient in it called PVA which is a rubbery synthetic polymer used in adhesives.

There are other glues available that contain PVA that will work for arts and crafts but I have never used any other brand.

Can I use clear Elmer’s Glue in place of the white version?

You can use either clear or white glue. You can experiment with the food coloring and finding which glue you prefer with the darker or lighter shades of food coloring.
