Today, we’re painting! This fun fireworks painting project is made using paint and backyard nature items such as evergreen branches, flowers, leaves, etc. These two things come together to create a super fun fireworks craft that kids of any age can make!

Fireworks Painting Materials Needed

All you need are a few simple supplies to make this project. In case you are missing one or two, I am including links to help you find what you need faster.

How To Paint Fireworks

The process for this fireworks painting is SO simple and SO much fun!

Start by going on a nature hunt to find long leaves, berry stems, pine needles, or any other materials that would make a good nature paint brush. Try to find ones that are stiff, or have a hard vein in the leaves, so that they will be strong enough to hold the paint, and make an imprint on your cardstock.

Gather your nature findings together, all facing the same direction.

Using your scissors, cut a small piece of yarn, or other thick string, and wrap it around the cut end of your nature findings, around ½ inch from the cut end.

Spread the leaves, stems, etc… apart, so that they create a circle. This will now be your paint brush.

Make large spiraling circles or a zig zag with your acrylic paint on your paper plate.

Using your nature paint brush, dip it into the paint and turn in circles until your paint brush has paint on all the leaves.

Begin dotting your nature paint brush on your cardstock to make your fireworks.

After using one color of paint, dip your nature paint brush into another color, and dot over the first fireworks you made, to make a multi-colored firework.

While the paint is still wet, sprinkle glitter on your fireworks.

Hold your painting up and lightly shake to remove any excess glitter.

Let your painting dry completely, and enjoy your fireworks art!

Isn’t it fun and beautiful?! My kids had SO much fun making this and I love how it turned out!
