When the heat goes up, cool down with a nice, cool homemade frozen treat. Loaded with fresh blueberries and naturally sweetened, these blueberry popsicles are made with only 3 ingredients and perfect on those hot summer days.
It’s officially the dog days of summer, and the thermometer shows more red than anything else at this point.
When it’s this hot outside, my kids and I look for different ways to cool down.
Sure, we’ve done the slip & slide, gone tubing in the farmer’s canal behind our house, and taken a dip in the lake. We’ve even made a few smoothies.
But after eating a yummy dinner, we are usually on the hunt for a sweet treat. When it’s hot outside, what kind of sweet treat do you want? I don’t know about you, but I look for ice cream and popsicles!
That’s where these homemade blueberries and cream popsicles come in handy.
Celebrating National Blueberry Popsicle Day
We’re taking full advantage of our summertime supply of fresh blueberries by making these ultra-fast, ultra-delicious blueberry popsicles!
National Blueberry Popsicle Day is September 2, which makes the month of September National Blueberry Popsicle Month – fun! I hope you’ll celebrate with us by making these at your home too.
Most commercially-made frozen treats are chock-full of unneeded added sugar and chemicals.
This blueberry popsicle recipe, on the other hand, only has 3 natural ingredients, is naturally sweetened, and bonus…is easy to make! With just a few tools, you can make these popsicles and enjoy popsicles all week long.
Since they are so easy to make, you can get the kids to help you! They will love learning how to make popsicles themselves!
Are DIY Popsicles Healthy?
If you have been here for pretty much any length of time, you know that I love the DIY versions of most foods.
Homemade popsicles are beyond worth the few short minutes it takes to whip them up, put them into molds. They are also completely worth the time it takes to wait for them to freeze.
BONUS! They are super healthy too! Filled with antioxidant-rich blueberries, nutrient-loaded coconut milk, and natural pure maple syrup, they are a powerhouse of nutrients.
And if that’s not enough…you control how much sweetener to add, and they’re lacking any unnatural ingredients. Since they’re dairy-free and sugar-free, they’re suitable for almost any diet.
How Do You Make Blueberry Popsicles?
Have you ever made homemade popsicles before? They are one of those foods that, for me, I thought I couldn’t make for the longest time. I am SO glad I was so wrong!
Basically, you make a popsicle by blending your fruit and other ingredients until smooth. From there, you’ll pour your mixture into your popsicle molds (don’t fill them to the VERY top). Then add your popsicle sticks (or lids, depending on your molds) and place them in the freezer to set.
They’re stupid easy to make and can be SO healthy! This is a no-churn popsicle recipe so you don’t need an ice cream maker.
However, you do need a Nutribullet (or a food processor or a high-speed blender) and your go-to popsicle molds. The food processor (or similar gadget) is needed for blending the blueberries, coconut milk, and the maple syrup together until smooth.
Be sure to give the mixture a quick taste test to make sure you’re okay with the sweetness level. Feel free to add more maple syrup as needed.
This recipe is perfect for a hot weather cool down and is such a wonderful treat any time of the day!
How Long Does it Take to Make Popsicles?
It only takes about 5-10 minutes to get these popsicles blended and into the freezer. Once you have them in the freezer, leave them there for 5 hours.
The Trick for Easily Removing Your Blueberry Popsicles From The Molds
When I first started making my own popsicles, I couldn’t figure out how to pull them out of their molds so we could eat them. I swear, that was the hardest part of making homemade popsicles.
But then I figured out that the secret to removing these popsicles from their molds with no effort is to run them under warm (not hot or they’ll melt) water for about 3-5 seconds before pulling them out of the mold.
Here’s the best way to do it:
Turn the molds sideways with the bottom tip pointed slightly downwards and run the popsicle you want out under the warm water for about 5 seconds.
Gently pull on the stick to loosen. If it doesn’t come out easily right away (you shouldn’t have to wiggle it very much), run it under the water for a few more seconds

Loaded with fresh blueberries and naturally sweetened, these blueberry popsicles are made with only 3 ingredients and perfect on those hot summer days.
Begin by pouring the blueberries, coconut milk, and maple syrup into a blender. (It’s fun to show your kids how the maple syrup sinks straight to the bottom, because it is more dense than the coconut milk)
Blend until smooth and creamy.
Pour into your popsicle molds, and place in the freezer for 5 hours, or overnight.
Once the Popsicles are fully frozen, they are ready to enjoy!
