I have a quick and easy (and delicious!) kid-friendly snack that your whole family is going to love.

While March 2nd is Dr. Seuss’s birthday and National Read Across America Day, I personally feel like Dr. Seuss’s books are important – and fun enough – to read and celebrate all year long!

But…picking our favorite Dr. Seuss books is too hard – there are SO MANY amazing stories!

My kids and I still love them and have fun reading them – complete with silly voices and plenty of laughs! And we love to enjoy some kitchen fun by making quick and easy Dr. Seuss-themed snacks with our story.

For breakfast on Dr. Seuss Day (March 2nd), I often make green eggs and ham. But later in the day…well, that’s another story! Whether you make Dr. Seuss snacks such as One Fish Two Fish Rice Krispie Treats, Truffula Trees, or these Cat in the Hat snacks, you can’t go wrong!

Plus, these snacks make perfect individual snacks to share at school parties, Dr. Seuss-themed birthday parties, or playdates!

Step 4 – Finish The Cat In The Hat’s Hat

Place the wet chocolate-coated side of each marshmallow directly onto the top of each cookie and allow to dry/harden completely.

Cat In The Hat Snack Recipe Tips And Notes

Attempting to dip both sides of chocolate at the same time for these DIY Dr. Seuss hat snacks, worked but was far messier than allowing the candy coating to dry on one end first.

Attempting to dip and allow it to dry on the chocolate cookie, then flipping it over to coat the top of the “hat” was also not a great success.

While jumbo marshmallows will fit on the top of the chocolate sandwich cookie, the large marshmallows resemble more of a hat.

These DIY Dr. Seuss hat treats are perfect for making while the kids are at school, or for birthday parties, or sending to school for a Dr. Seuss Day celebration!

Dr. Seuss Cat In The Hat Snack Variations

I’ve seen lots of different ways to do this type of snack. Here are a few ideas when you want to change it up.

  • Make Fruit Kabobs – Use large marshmallow for the head and alternating banana and strawberry slices for the hat on a bamboo skewer
  • Layered Fruit Hats – Oreo for the hat base with layers of sliced strawberries and whipped cream (or Cool Whip)
  • Gummy Hats – White chocolate candy melts and red gummy Lifesavers

Personally, I love my version the most because it can sit through a school celebration without melting all over the place or turning brown! And it’s really the EASIEST to make!
