Traditional Charcuterie Boards vs. Easter Themed Charcuterie Board

Traditional charcuterie boards are typically a meat and cheese board with a variety of cheeses (including soft cheeses), favorite meats, nuts, fresh vegetables, fruits, and more.

On the other hand, themed charcuterie boards like this easy holiday charcuterie board idea typically contain some of those same elements along with some specialty ingredients and food items such as deviled eggs, meat products (like salami roses), favorite candies or other favorite sweet treats to create a special appetizer tray (or snack board) for your next Easter holiday gathering.

Expert Tips And Tricks

  • Using a thin layer of peanut butter and jelly on the sandwiches will ensure that the bunny sandwich seals and the jelly and peanut butter does not ooze out the sides.
  • When adding the cucumber slices, I like to stack them and give them a layered look but you do you.
  • If you are unable to find the white cheddar cheese balls, a great substitute would be the Annie’s Cheddar Bunny Crackers.

FAQs About This Easter Charcuterie Board

Do you have questions about making this Easter Charcuterie Board? If you have a question and don’t see it already answered below, please leave it for me in the comments!

Can I make this Easter Charcuterie Board ahead of time?

You can make this charcuterie board about 3 – 4 hours ahead of serving time. Keep it in the refrigerator, wrapped securely in plastic wrap, then remove it from the fridge 30 – 40 minutes prior to serving.

How long can this Easter charcuterie board stay out at room temperature?

GREAT QUESTION! 🙂 You will not want it to sit out any longer than approximately 1 – 2 hours. If you allow it to sit at room temperature any longer than this, it is likely that the perishable foods will begin to spoil and you could run the risk of it making someone sick.

Is there any fruits that you would recommend NOT putting on a charcuterie board?

Excellent question! Pineapples and watermelons are a couple of fruits that I suggest not adding to your board. They are both very juicy fruits and unless you put them in a separate bowl of container the juice with wreak havoc on the rest of your ingredients.

Oranges, grapefruits, bananas, and peaches are a few others I would recommend leaving off of your board as well unless you make special accomodations for them.

Included are candy-coated chocolates, puffed snacks, jelly beans, deviled eggs, sliced cucumbers, strawberries, carrot sticks, and bunny-shaped sandwiches.

Easter Charcuterie Board

Yield: 4 - 5 servings
Prep Time: 10 minutes
Total Time: 10 minutes

Ingredients

  • 4 slices of bread
  • 3 slices of deli ham
  • Garden vegetable cream cheese
  • lettuce
  • peanut butter
  • strawberry jelly
  • Bunny-shaped cookie cutter
  • 2 boiled eggs, halved
  • cucumbers
  • carrots, cut into strips
  • Strawberries
  • Cotton Tails, white cheddar cheese balls
  • Pink bunny Peeps marshmallows
  • Yellow chick Peeps marshmallows
  • Jelly Beans
  • Pastel Easter Mix M&M’s

Instructions

  1. Add peanut butter and jelly to two slices of bread, and cut out two bunnies with a cookie cutter. I find it’s best to only do a thin layer of the peanut butter and jelly to ensure it doesn’t all ooze out the sides when you cut with the cookie cutter.
  2. Next, add some vegetable cream cheese to the other two slices of bread, and then add the deli ham and lettuce. Use the bunny cookie cutter to cut out two bunnies again. Arrange the bunnies on your board.
  3. Fill a small bowl with some “Cotton Tails” cheddar balls, and place in them in the middle of your board. Place some hard-boiled egg halves around the outer edges of the board, and then fill in some of the blank spaces with carrot strips, and cucumber slices. I like to stack the cucumbers slightly on top of each other to create a layered look.
  4. With a sharp paring knife, cut the calyx off each strawberry, and then make some tiny slices across the berry. Slightly fan the slices, and place the strawberries throughout the board. Fill two small bowls with some jelly beans, and some pastel Easter M&M’s. Place the bowls on each side of the cheddar balls. Fill in any remaining empty spots with some pink bunny and yellow chick Peeps marshmallows. Serve immediately. Enjoy!
