You know the drill. Pinterest shows picture-perfect crafts that take three hours, twelve supplies you don’t have, and end with tears because the glue dried wrong. But what if there was an Easter project that used stuff sitting in your craft drawer right now and actually turned out adorable?

That’s why I often turn to paper plate crafts!

What You’ll Need

Before you clear the kitchen table, grab these basics. Nothing on this list requires a special trip to the craft store, and you probably have most of it already! Let’s make an Easter bunny paper plate craft!

How To Make An Easter Bunny Paper Plate Craft

This easy Easter craft isn’t one of those crafts where you’re guessing what goes where. The structure is straightforward, and each piece has a clear purpose! Just follow these simple directions.

  1. Download and print out the Easter Bunny template.
  2. Cut your construction paper pieces – Trace the template pieces onto the appropriate colors of construction paper. You can use the images below as a guide.
  3. Cut the paper plate into a rough egg shape.
  4. Attach the pink body piece. Glue the pink oval onto the bottom center of your paper plate for the belly.
  5. Layer the pieces for the bunny ears and feet.
  6. Add the eyes. Use your black marker to draw two circles of white paper cut from the template. Glue them near the top of the plate. Inside the circles, draw an inner circle and color them in except for a spot or two so that the eyes look like they “sparkle.”
  7. Glue the ears to the back. Flip the plate over and attach the ear pieces to the top edge. When you flip the plate back over, the ears should stick up behind the bunny’s head.
  8. Attach the arms and feet. Glue the feet to the bottom of the plate (on each side of the pink belly circle). Glue the arms to the back of the plate on each side (use the picture as a guide). Position the hands so they angle slightly. They’ll fold over the carrot in the next step.
  9. Add the carrot and fold the hands. Glue the orange carrot triangle to the center of the bunny’s belly. Once it’s stuck, gently fold the hand pieces over the carrot so it looks like the bunny is holding it. Add a tiny dot of glue to keep the hands in place on this Easter bunny paper plate craft.

Easter Bunny Paper Plate Craft Expert Tips and Notes

Make sure the ears of this Easter bunny craft are securely glued in place because kids will want to hold this bunny by the ears.

The carrot adds personality. The little folded-hand detail takes this from basic craft to something with character. It gives the bunny a purpose and makes kids feel like they built something with a story, not just a face on a plate!

Quick Variations to Try

This Easter bunny paper plate craft makes it easy to let your kids add their own personality and customize their bunny! Here are some ideas to get started:

Add googly eyes – If your kids want to use stickers or googly eyes instead of drawing the eyes, that works too! Marker eyes are faster and less likely to fall off, but googly eyes add fun dimension to the bunny’s face.

Change the colors – Use blue or yellow construction paper for the body instead of pink. Make a rainbow carrot with multi-colored strips. Let them pick their own color combinations and see what happens!

Use pipe cleaners to outline the tummy or the ears – that would be so cute!

Add a pom pom nose poking out from the side of the carrot.

Add texture with cotton balls – Glue a cotton ball to one of the sides of the paper plate for a fluffy tail effect. You can also add small cotton tufts to the inner ears if you want extra softness.

Make a bunny family. Use different-sized paper plates to create baby bunnies, mama bunnies, and papa bunnies. Line them up on the mantel or hang them on the wall as a group display.

This craft doesn’t need to be complicated to be memorable and add some Easter cheer. Sometimes the simplest projects are the ones your kids remember years later. Happy Easter!
