Yep, you read that correctly. This recipe is so versatile you can make your cheese bread AND individual pizzas for everyone in your family in your air fryer.

We always have fun cooking our meals together as a family, especially when it involves cheesy bread PLUS pizza.

Ingredients Needed For Air Fryer Cheese Bread Recipe

  • Warm Water – 100 degrees F
  • Sugar – granulated
  • Dry Yeast
  • All-Purpose Flour – plus extra for dusting
  • Olive Oil – virgin or extra virgin
  • Salt
  • Mozzarella Cheese – shredded
  • Italian Seasoning – homemade or pre-packaged
  • Butter – salted or unsalted
  • 8″ Pie Pan – or pay that fits in air fryer basket

How to Make Air Fryer Cheese Bread

Pizza Dough:

Step 1

Begin by adding the yeast and warm water to a large bowl. Stir, mix, and allow the yeast to proof for approximately 5 minutes.

After you have allowed the yeast to proof for about 5 minutes, add sugar, flour, olive oil, and salt and mix well.

Step 3

Using a stand mixer with a dough hook attachment, knead the dough for about 5 minutes on medium speed.

If you are hand kneading, place the dough ball on floured flat surface and knead for approximately 10 minutes.

Step 4

Place the kneaded dough ball into a lightly oiled bowl and cover with a clean towel until the dough ball is doubled in size or about 2 hours.

Assembly

Step 1

You are now ready to start assembling the cheese bread. Move the dough ball onto a lightly floured surface and divide it into two equal size sections.

With your rolling pin, roll out the dough into an 8-inch diameter circle.

Now you are ready to grease your pie pan and transfer the dough into the pan. Press the dough down to flatten into the bottom of the pan.

Preheat the air fryer to 380 degrees. Place the dough in the air fryer and cook for 5 minutes.

Remove the dough from air fryer. Add butter, cheese and Italian seasoning on top and cook for an additional 5 minutes.

Repeat the step for the second half of the dough.

  • This dough is can be used for homemade pizzas too. Just add your favorite pizza toppings and pop back in the air fryer until it reaches your desired doneness.
  • Cut into quarters or inch wide slices for serving.

Variations Of Air Fryer Cheese Bread To Try

  • Change up the type of cheese based on you and your families preference. Cheddar, Mexi-Blend, Parmesan or Goat cheese a few other great choices.
  • Add a variety of dipping sauces to your table to serve with the cheese bread such as, oil with salt and pepper, buffalo chicken dip, marinara sauce, or a beer cheese dip.
  • Garnish with a little parsley to add a little color immediately after taking it out of the air fryer.
  • Sprinkle on some red pepper flakes for a spicy, cheesy bite.

What is the best way to store my leftovers?

This bread is so delicious you may not have any. LOL If you do, simply wrap the leftovers in aluminum foil or place in storage bag and put in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.

Just pop the leftovers back into the air fryer for a few minutes to reheat and crisp it up.

What if my air fryer is not the same size as the one you use?

Great question! I use an 8-quart fryer but you can easily adjust the recipe to work with the size of air fryer you have. Just be sure that when you roll out the dough to fit into your air fryer pan that you want each portion to be about the same thickness for even cooking.

Cook time may be different as well so just keep an eye on the dough as it cooks. You will know it is done when the edges are golden brown and you can tell that the dough is cooked through in the center.

Can I freeze the Air Fryer Cheese Bread?

Personally, I would not recommend freezing the cheese bread once you have cooked it in the air fryer. Freezing it may add in moisture that will change the texture of the bread when defrosted.

However, you can prepare extra dough and place it in the freezer for up to 3 months. Then you already have the dough ready to go next time you have a craving for some yummy cheese bread. 🙂

  • 1 tsp sugar
  • 1 1/8 tsp dry yeast
  • 1 3/4 cups all-purpose flour, plus additional for dusting
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 tsp salt

When ready to cook your pizza, preheat your air fryer to 380°F.

Pizza dough:

  1. Add to a large bowl your warm water, and yeast. Stir and mix. Allow your yeast to proof for about five minutes.
  2. After five minutes, add in your sugar, flour, olive oil, and salt. Mix until fully incorporated.
  3. Knead with the dough hook for about five minutes on medium speed if using a stand mixer. If using your hands, transfer the dough ball to a lightly floured flat surface and knead for about 10 minutes.
  4. Transfer your dough ball to a lightly oiled bowl. Cover with a clean towel for 2 hours, or until doubled in size.

Pizza assembly:

  1. Once your dough has doubled in size, remove your dough ball to a lightly floured surface. Divide your ball into two sections.
  2. Roll your dough using a rolling pin until it is 8 inches in diameter.
  3. Using 1 tablespoon of butter, grease your pie pan. Transfer your pizza dough to your pan. Press to flatten down on the bottom of the pan.
  4. With your air fryer preheated to 380°F, cook your dough for 5 minutes.
  5. Remove, and then top your dough with 1 tablespoon butter, 3/4 cup cheese, and 1/2 tablespoon Italian seasoning. Cook for another 5 minutes.
  6. Repeat steps 2 to 5 for your second cheesy bread.
  7. Serve and enjoy!
