Ingredients Needed To Make Bone Breadsticks
Here’s everything that you need to make these fun Halloween breadsticks!
- Ready-to-bake pizza crust – you can use homemade dough, but this saves time!
- Butter
- Garlic powder
- Italian seasoning
How To Make Bone-Shaped Breadsticks
The process for making these fun breadsticks is super easy. The “hardest” part is tying the knots at each end. 😉
Step 1 – Heat Oven And Prepare Baking Sheet
Preheat the oven to 425 degrees.
Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
Step 2 – Prepare The Dough
Unroll the dough and cut it into 8 equal sections. Tip: You can do this on a lightly floured surface to prevent the dough from sticking and tearing.
Take one piece of dough, and wrap the end over, then through, forming a knot. Tie knot on the other end so that both ends of each breadstick have a knot to form a bone shape, and repeat this step for all of the breadsticks.
Step 3 – Bake Breadsticks
Once you have knotted the ends of the breadsticks, place breadsticks a couple of inches apart on the baking sheet, and bake for 8 minutes.
Step 4 – Make Melted Butter Seasoning
Melt the butter, then add the garlic and Italian seasoning. Stir well.
Step 5 – Brush Breadsticks With Melted Butter
Remove them from the oven, and brush breadsticks with melted butter mixture.
Step 6 – Brown And Serve
Return to oven and bake for an additional 2-5 minutes, until they are golden brown.
Serve your warm breadstick bones immediately with a side of pizza sauce (the “blood) and enjoy!
Recipe Tips and Tricks
If you make your own homemade pizza dough, you can totally use that to make these breadsticks. However, the premade can versions at Whole Foods or your grocery store of choice work great, too!
I love serving these Halloween bone breadsticks with marinara sauce as the “blood”. However, if you want to offer other options, you could serve them with cheese sauce, alfredo sauce, or even ranch.
Variation Idea: Cheesy Halloween Breadstick Bones! Sprinkle parmesan cheese or shredded cheese on your breadsticks before baking them.
Storage Instructions
If you have leftover Halloween bone breadsticks, they will stay fresh in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 5 days.
To serve, simply microwave for 25-30 seconds to warm and soften them. Or stick them in your toaster oven or air fryer for 5 minutes.
I hope you enjoy these fun, delicious bones this spooktastic Halloween season!
