I love Thanksgiving! In addition to the reminder of taking time to appreciate the things we’re grateful for (with this Thankful Thanksgiving Tree Craft), I love the time with friends and family.

And the food!

Each year we make a turkey. Some of my favorite sides include:

Every year we face the same problem: lots of leftovers still to eat but everyone is tired of eating them.

I know, you’re probably thinking, “well, if it happens every year, just make LESS food.”

And you’re right! Sort of.

You see, we’ve tried that. But there’s always SOME reason that we have a ton of leftovers. No one could find the right-size turkey…someone was sick and didn’t eat much…we invited someone extra at last minute and they brought food with them.

The list could go on and on.

If you need an easy recipe to use up those Thanksgiving leftovers, give these Thanksgiving leftover crescent rolls (also called Thanksgiving in a Blanket or Thanksgiving Crescent Dough Bombs) a try!

Thanksgiving Leftover Crescent Rolls Tips

Here are a few tips and tricks to help ensure your Thanksgiving in a blanket turns out perfectly every time!

  • Prepare all your fillings before laying out your crescent roll dough. There’s no need to preheat them beforehand (unless they were frozen).
  • Thanksgiving crescent bombs taste best fresh! Of course be careful because the filling will be hot.
  • Use Pillsbury Grands XL crescents so you can add as much filling to each roll as possible.
  • Only work with cold crescent roll dough. Warmer dough will get very sticky, very fast (making it impossible to work with)!
  • Don’t worry about covering every space with dough. They will still bake up well.
  • Don’t overstuff the rolls. While you don’t need to cover every centimeter with dough, you do need to be able to close your Thanksgiving leftover crescent rolls so they stay closed while baking.

Variation Ideas

  • Stuff your crescent rolls with any leftovers that you have! That could be sweet potatoes, green bean casserole, other meat, or whatever else you have that you need to use up!
  • By the same token, you can omit any leftovers you want
  • If you love cheese, you can add cheese to these crescent rolls
  • If you want to dip them in gravy or drizzle gravy on them, do it after they bake so that they don’t get soggy.

Thanksgiving Leftover Crescent Rolls FAQs

How do I store leftover Thanksgiving in a Blanket?

Thanksgiving leftover crescent rolls are best when served immediately. If they don’t all get eaten, I recommend discarding any leftovers because otherwise, you’ll be leftovers for a second time.

What can I serve with Thanksgiving Leftover Crescent Bombs?

Think of Thanksgiving in a Blanket like sandwiches. Serve them up with:
Chips
Fruit
Easy Layered Brunch Salad
Old-Fashioned Strawberry Pretzel Salad Dessert

Can I freeze Thanksgiving Leftovers Crescent Rolls?

Yes, you can freeze them. If you do freeze them, thaw them at room temperature for roughly 30 minutes. Then heat them in the toaster oven at 350 degrees for 5 minutes.

You can microwave them, but they lose their delicious texture. They’ll still taste good, but they’ll be soggy. Trust me on this one: bake them.
