35+ Baseball Snacks For A Team That Hit A Home Run
Here are our favorite grab-and-go baseball snacks to take to munch on at games, to fuel your player during tournaments, or share with the whole team!
Two of our three boys have played competitive baseball for several years now, and we’ve tried ALL the possible food and snack ideas. And I mean everything – from homemade goodies to store-purchased foods!
We’ve also passed out our fair share of team snacks (which used to TERRIFY me)!
There are lots of things I’ve learned over the years as a baseball mom, so today I’m sharing all my secrets and tips about preparing great baseball snacks for games and tournaments.
TIP: All of these suggestions also work well for other sports events, such as softball, soccer, mountain biking, lacrosse, football, and more!
Tips for success with baseball snacks for the team
Honestly, it took me 2-3 years to just begin to get comfortable with bringing snacks. I would try to bring things like cuties and string cheese.
Well, those things are great for a game, but they aren’t really enough for an all-day (or all-weekend) tournament!
Also, I had no idea how to handle team baseball snacks because I’ve always been worried about allergies. I would sign up for our turn near the middle of the season so I could get a sense of what other parents were doing. Ha!
Oh, the pressure of figuring out baseball snack ideas!
Here are my biggest tips:
- Provide both a drink (to stay hydrated) and a snack
- Make it something that kids enjoy (skip the celery sticks and kale chips for this type of thing)
- Keep it simple – no need to overthink baseball snacks because the players DON’T care that much!
- Individually packaged items are easier and often preferred by parents for safety reasons. If you share homemade items, consider individually wrapping them or putting them in resealable bags.
Baseball snacks – allergy notes
Something I always do at the beginning of each season is to check about any allergies our players might have. I want to make sure I bring safe snacks and choose things that everyone can enjoy so no one feels left out.
Favorite Baseball Snack Ideas That Hit A Home Run
I’ve put together a list of the best baseball snacks that tend to be popular with the kids.
Keep in mind that the number of snacks you’ll need to pack for a tournament will be at least 3 TIMES what you need to pack for a single game.
You want to provide the players with snacks that are delicious, satisfying, and energizing!
To make it easier for you to find ideas you like, I’ve divided this list into different categories.
PRO TIP: Get a high-quality cooler that can hold enough for the player/family and keep drinks and snacks cold. We’ve tried everything from the cheap brands (which hardly work) to the expensive and swear by Yeti coolers. They are pricey but SO worth it when you’re sitting out by the hot fields all day. We use the Yeti Hopper Fip 18 and LOVE it!
Fruit baseball snack ideas
Fruit is nature’s perfect snack because it provides vitamins, minerals hydration, and natural sugar for energy.
- Frozen Grapes – perfect for those hot sunny days! Easy, delicious, and ultra-satisfying!
- Fruit Kabobs – include 2-4 different types of fruit, and I recommend using wooden skewers and trimming off the sharp tip for safety.
- Applesauce Pouches – easy, convenient, satisfying, and allergy friendly.
- Fruit Leather – great for hot weather (doesn’t need to be chilled).
- Raisins – (or other dried fruit) contain potassium which is great for muscle cramps on hot days.
- Clementine Oranges – I recommend pairing these with something that has protein so it satisfies for a longer period of time.
- Apple slices – always a hit!
Filling protein baseball snacks
Carbs and sugar help keep energy levels up, but protein is what keeps the “hangries” at bay.
- Nuts – this is only ok if no one on the team has a nut allergy. Be sure to check first!
- Cheese and crackers – great carbs and protein combo. Easy to make gluten-free if needed!
- String cheese – portable, easy, and pairs well with crafters, nuts, fruit, or anything!
- Tortilla rollups – fill them with cheeses or nut buttes (or allergy-friendly nut butter alternatives).
- Yogurt – I like the portables tubes for this, and I tend to freeze them so they’re refreshing and cold on a hot day.
- Protein drinks – make sure they’re chilled.
Refreshing veggie baseball snacks
Vegetables work best as snacks when you pair them with a spread, dip, or carb, or protein.
- Carrot sticks (or mini carrots) – Bag them up and make sure to pair them with hummus, veggie dip, or crackers.
- Edamame – Delicious with a sprinkle of salt and a great source of protein.
- Cherry Tomatoes – Serve the red and bright yellow ones with dip on the side.

Nourish and rejuvenate tired bodies with these baseball snacks. Reminder, make sure to avoid any allergies the kids on your team may have!
- Granola bars – easy to make or buy, yummy, and a kid’s favorite!
- Mini pretzels – for these, I like to get the individual snack packs to pass out easily.
- Popcorn – easy to make or you can find snack packs!
- Bagels – opt for the mini variety and add cream cheese.
- Trail Mix – SO many options out there! Buy it or make your own!
- Energy bites
- Muffins – SO many flavors to choose from. Add protein powder for a boost of hunger satisfaction.
Hydrating baseball snacks
Help your athletes replace lost fluids.
- Water – Water is always a great option – and always allergy friendly!
- Sports Drinks – Be careful with this one – watch the sugar content, but they can be helpful, especially on super hot days.
- Juice Boxes – I like to get the Caprisuns that are watered down (called Roarin’ Waters).
